    报告简介:
        In this talk, the properties of organic functionalized materials with outstanding optical properties to be used as chemical sensors, organic semiconductors, energy storage devices and in spintronics and nonlinear optics are investigated. Graphene, graphene defects and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) constitute outstanding examples of systems which are currently intensively investigated. To make these materials applicable for practical usage, their properties have to be adapted to the specific requirements. In case of graphene, band gap engineering by means of chemi- or physisorption is necessary to convert the semimetal into a semiconductor. In addition to graphene, diradicals and polyradicals based on PAHs play an increasingly important role for the rational design of advanced materials.
    Interesting classes of compounds currently investigated are, among many others, polyacenes and zethrenes. Acenes show a remarkable polyradicaloid character for hexacene and beyond which leads to interesting electronic properties but also to significant chemical instability. To modulate the biradicaloid character chemical doping by means of nitrogen and boron atoms, respectively, is proposed.
